30 Day Book Challenge

So if you watch any Booktube videos, which you totally should, you may have heard of the 30 Day Book Challenge, created by Riquetta at Nerdintransation, which you can watch here.

So a few other booktubers have thought of joining, myself included, but I thought it may be fun to see if any bloggers wanted to do it too. One quick point though, Riquetta said she’ll be reading a book a day, I think that’s a bit of a jump for me, so I am going to be reading 200 pages a day, which is double the amount I normally read. The challenge is running from tomorrow (17th June) for, wait for it, 30 days. If you are joining in, remember to use the #30dayread on Twitter!

I thought I’d make a quick list of things I want to read over the challenge, which should be around 15 books, but one of them is Game of Thrones, so I’ll list 12.

Middle Grade
  • The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani
Young Adult
  • The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
  • Noble Conflict by Malorie Blackman
  • Across the Universe by Beth Revis
  • The Universe versus Alex Woods by Gavin Extence
  • Divergent by Veronica Roth

Adult
  • The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson,
  • Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
  • So Long and Thanks for all the Fish by Douglas Adams
  • A Storm of Swords by George RR Martin (1200 pages erm…)

Classics
  • Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

Non-Fiction
  • Cracked by James Davies

Plays
  • Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare

Looking at this list, I’m now feeling unsure, but you know what they say, aim high. I’ll be posting a lot of reviews up here on this blog, and a few on my channel.

Tell me what you’re reading, if you’re thinking of doing the challenge, or if I’m just plain crazy!

  1. ooh, loved Divergent and I want to get my hands on a copy of The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared!

Good luck with the challenge :) I'll be writing my blog post of the books I'm hoping to read today. Sounds so fun, I can't wait for Monday!

    1. I've been hopeful and put Divergent on this list because I've ordered it from the library. Hopefully it'll turn up during this month!

Good luck to you too, I'll keep my eyes peeled for your post :)

  2. The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared is hilarious! I loved it to pieces. :) Divergent is also AMAZING and The 5th Wave is equally as incredible. I've heard nothing but good things about Gone Girl (I keep meaning to borrow it from my friend!) and I'm sure you'll enjoy So Long and Thanks for all the Fish... I love practically all books by Douglas Adams, and that was one of my favourites!

Good luck with them all and I hope you manage to complete the challenge!

    1. I've heard a lot of good things about it! I'm halfway through the 5th wave and think its great so far, can't wait to read more. And I'm glad you said that about Thanks for all the Fish, so far the other ones haven't lived up to Hitchhikers.
And I think I'm going to need that luck! Thank you :)

  3. MUCH ADO IS PERFECTION. It is literally my favourite Shakespeare play ever! Divergent is pretty good, and I hear that Gone Girl is amazing- I keep meaning to read it, but I haven't managed to get my hands on it yet.

Good luck with the challenge (:

    1. I'm rereading it for the film by Joss Whedon that's coming out. I can't wait to see it. But my favourite play is either Hamlet or Macbeth (slightly morbid I know). And everyone keeps telling me about Divergent, so I knew I had to get it :) Thank you!

  4. The fifth wave is aaammaaazziinng, Cassie is kickass and I loved the plot twists. Divergent is also great, and the film is coming out next year, I'm so excited! Good luck competing the challenge, I'm far too slow a reader to take part, it frustrates me! New follower via Bloglovin' :)

    1. I'm loving The 5th Wave so far! I don't think being a slow reader matters, it setting your own personal goals which matters. But sometimes people are just too busy. Also I followed you back cos your blog looks so freakin' awesome

  5. I wasn't overly fond of the 5th Wave but I think I'm getting a bit old for the target market now, plus as a relatively seasoned sci-fi reader it was super-predictable.

I haven't yet read The Universe Versus ALex Woods but I'll be interested to hear what you thought of it as I went to a talk by Jasper Fforde recently and he said it was fantastic.

  6. I thought the 5th wave was pretty good, but I think you're right in that if you've read enough sci-fi, it wasn't very original, but I am not one of those people (yet). The one thing I didn't like about it was the generalizations he made about science fiction with aliens.

And I am so looking forward to Alex Woods, the reason I bought it was because I kept on seeing it everywhere!
